[Korea] Gwangju Toechon Tomato Festival 2013 starts June 21

The Gwangju Toechon Tomato Festival 2013 will be held at several areas in Toechon-myeon, Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi-do from June 21 to 23.

A huge tomato plantation (264,000㎡) is located in Toechon-myeon where the tomato festival will be held. This township is well-known for using bumblebees for eco-friendly tomato cultivation.

This year is the 11th time Toechon is holding the tomato festival. Various tomato-related exhibits and hands-on activities will be happening on the festival grounds during the duration of the festival. There will be an exhibit displaying different tomato varieties and tomato well-being foods. Visitors can also buy tomato seedlings at the venue. The biggest events are the Tomato Pool and the Tomato Harvesting, which will be available on the 22nd and the 23rd of June.

Admission to the festival is free of charge.

Tip. Tomato Pool
The Tomato Pool will operate on June 22 and 23. Only the first 300 people to sign-up can be accommodated. On-site registration begins at 9 a.m. and the fee is 3,000 won.
