The International Rose Festival Gokseong 2013 will take place at 1004 Rose Park (1004, read as cheonsa, means an angel in Korean) located inside Seomjingang River Train Village in Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do from May 24 to June 2, 2013.
The rose, one of the most beautiful flowers in the world, is also dearly beloved by many Koreans. The festival is on its third year this year and will be exhibiting millions of roses of 1004 kinds from many countries including France, Germany and the United States. This year’s festival will have extended evening hours, letting visitors enjoy the beautiful evening rose festival under the soft glow of the night lights.
In addition, there will be various performances such as Nanta (Korean non-verbal performance), traditional music performances, and puppet shows. Rose soap-making, rose-pressing, and many other hands-on activities have been organized for the festival. Admission to the festival is 3,000 won for adults and 2,500 won for teens and kids.
