Marking its 17th year, Suwon Hwaseong Fortress Theatre Festival 2013 will be held at the square of Hwaseong Fortress [UNESCO World Heritage], in Paldal-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do Province from May 24 to 28.
The Suwon Cultural Foundation Festival Planning Bureau has brought in international works of art from eight countries including Australia, Spain, and Germany for this year’s festival. These international works of art will be shown along with seven Korean plays that were selected through a contest. A Korean group will open the festival with a vocal performance of Edith Piaf’s “Hymne a l’amour,” with songs, tap dance, ballet and other types of dances to follow. A range of hands-on programs will also be available for the participation of visitors.
Outdoor performances are free of charge, while there will be a 20,000 won admission fee for each of the three performances held at Art Hall of KBS Suwon Studio.
