Lotus Lantern Festival 2013 will take place at Jogyesa Temple, Insa-dong, and areas around Jongno-gu in Seoul from May 10 to 12.

The Lotus Lantern Festival has historically been an important Buddhist celebration and national event. As an important intangible cultural asset of Korea, it has attracted numerous domestic and foreign participants from a variety of religious backgrounds. With the theme of “Hope to the World and Happiness to Your Heart,” this year’s festival features a traditional lantern exhibition, lotus lantern parade, traditional cultural plaza and other various programs.

The festival’s top event is the lantern parade, which notably features around 100,000 lanterns and Korean traditional music. The parade route is expected to be lined with festival attendees. Admission to the festival is free of charge.
