Jindo Miracle Sea Festival is slated to be held from April 25 to 28 in the Gogun-myeon area of Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do Province.
The mysterious sea parting phenomenon is caused by an extra-low tide that reveals a 50m-wide path across the sea floor. This miraculous sea parting was first introduced to those outside of Korea in 1975, when a French ambassador witnessed the sea parting and introduced it as the “Miracle of Moses” when he returned to France.
The festival will mark its 35th year, and attracts an average of half a million visitors from home and abroad per annum. The festival features the opportunity to walk along the sea road, a Jindo traditional performance, parade, and a range of other programs and performances. Admission to the festival is 5,000 won, but hands-on activities and food are free of charge.
