The non-verbal performance “Arirang Party” will turn the volume up a level with a new repertoire starting 6pm on April 14, 2013 at the Dongdaemun Spring Flower Festival 2013.
Arirang Party is a non-verbal show featuring traditional dance, traditional percussion music, taekwondo, and b-boying. The storyline is based on Korean legends and myths, with the music and performances being played to the rhythm of Arirang. It was first performed in 2007 after 10 long years of preparation.
Arirang Party was selected as one of the excellent performances of 2013 by the Korean Cultural and Arts Centers Association. It will be a great chance to enjoy a special performance at a festival filled with the sweet scent of spring flowers.
* Arirang: a representative Korean folk song containing the emotion and spirit of Koreans. Many variations of the song exist depending on a region’s local characteristics, while generally containing the sorrow and pathos of Arirang. On December 5, 2012, Arirang was inscribed on UNESCO’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
