The Hwagae Cherry Blossoms Festival 2013 is slated to take place on April 6 and 7 along the cherry blossom tree lined road connecting Hwagae market and Ssanggyesa Temple in Hadong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do.
The cherry blossom road, called “10ri Cherry Blossom Road” was built in 1931 by villagers who worked together to plant 200 peach trees and 1,200 cherry blossom trees. It is said that couples who walk along the road on a spring day when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom will fall deeply in love with each other. The story earned the road the nicknames ‘Couples Road’ and “Road to the Wedding.”
The festival program will feature a music concert that all visitors can enjoy. The festival starts at 11:00 and will end at 16:00 on both days. Admission to the festival is free of charge.
