※ Suncheon-si has decided to postpone the operation of the Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) system to conduct safety inspections. The new date for the start of operations will be announced later. (posted on April 3, 2013)

Suncheon-si will begin running its Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) system on the 2013 Suncheon Bay International Garden Exposition’s opening day of April 20.

PRT, also known as pod cars, will run on the 4.6km track connecting the South Gate of the Expo site and Suncheon Literature Hall. Tests and inspections of the cars that can accommodate four to six people have been completed. Twenty cars will be in operation by the time the expo opens, and five cars will be added every month, for a total of 40 by August.

The eco-friendly pod cars are expected to provide a memorable journey for expo visitors between the expo venue and downtown Suncheon.
