In celebration of Seollal (Lunar New Year), the National Gugak Center will be holding a host of special performance events titled “Yeomindongnak” (meaning “the king sharing joy with the people”) on February 10th and 11th at its main theater Yeak-dang and at the outdoor stage.
The upcoming event will consist of two parts. Part 1 will feature Korean traditional dance and music, along with a calligraphy performance staged by the Gugak Orchestra, the Folk Music Group, and the Dance Theater of the National Gugak Center. Part 2 will be held outdoors to give way to a more upbeat rhythm and dynamic performances. Aside from these, there will be some Korean traditional snacks and liquor available for the visitors to enjoy.
Meanwhile, a range of hands-on activities will take place at the center’s outdoor plaza starting two hours before the performance. The activities will offer a chance to experience some of the most representative Korean folk games like tuho (arrow throwing), jegi-chagi (Korean game of tassel-kicking), and sledding. Admission is 10,000 won for all seats.
