The Inje Icefish Festival, one of the major winter festivals in Korea, will take place for 9 days from January 19th through the 27th in the area around Soyangho Lake in Nam-myeon Inje-gun, Gangwon-do.
The festival is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year and has been highly popular among both domestic and international tourists in the past. The festival's theme is icefish, called 'Bingeo' in Korean, and features various programs related to icefish including 6,000 Bingeo (icefish) Lanterns for decoration, giant ice sculptures, an ice tunnel, ice fishing, icefish tasting and even an icefish cooking class. More programs include ice sledding, ice soccer, dance performances and music concerts.
Admission to the festival is free, while fishing rod rental is 3,000won and bait cost 2,000won.
