Ganghwa will be hosting the 7th Bingeo Festival from December 22, 2012 to February 24, 2013. Bingeo, or smelt, is a small minnow-like fish that is grey in color.
The festival will be taking place at the Hwangcheong Reservoir fishing grounds (Naega-myeong Ganghwa-gun Incheon-si), which is popular for its accessibility and beautiful surroundings all throughout the year.
Festival programs include smelt ice-fishing, bare-hand smelt fishing, ice biking, sledding, ice sliding, and more. There will also be stores selling Ganghwa’s agricultural products and a rest area for the festival attendees to warm up and cook their freshly caught bounty.
Admission to the festival is 5,000 won and fishing rod is 4,000won.
