[KTO] 40th Korea Tourism Photo Contest Winners Announced

On October 15th, the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) announced the winners of the annual Korea Tourism Photo Contest. The contest was held to recognize photos that best portray the beautiful landscapes and other aspects of Korea both at home and abroad.

This year’s contest featured the theme of “Gi (Energy), Heung (Joy) & Jeong (Affection)”, and received great attention of and participation from locals and foreigners alike. Out of the 8,730 submissions entered for the contest, a total of 96 photos were selected based on the criteria of applicability, creativity, artistry, etc.

The gold prize was awarded to Gang Seonman’s “Spring of Deokcheonseowon”, which beautifully captured the spring at Deokcheonseowon Confucian Academy in Geochang, Gyeongsangnam-do. The silver prizes were awarded to Lee Chiyong’s “Jikjisa Temple” and Yoon Eunsuk’s “Jungdo Camping Site”. Lastly, the bronze prizes went to Kim Jihyeon’s “Seonunsa Temple”, Lee Jeongui’s “Dokdo Island” and Kim Jaeyeo’s “Winter of Mt. Wolchul”.

The winning photos are currently posted on the Visit Korea Photo Gallery ( They will be used in various promotional materials to represent Korea. Also, the original copies of the winning photos are currently displayed at the KTO’s Tourist Information Center (TIC). Other award winning photos are also available on the Visit Korea Photo Gallery.
